PRONG: 'The Early Years' Book Now Available
May 3, 2007Former PIGFACE/current THE UNDEAD drummer Joel Gausten has published his long-awaited new book, "Prong: The Early Years".
The book comes in two cover editions: The first edition, designed by PRONG co-founder Mike Kirkland and limited to 100 copies, is available at this location. The second edition cover, which includes photos taken by former PRONG/FLOTSAM AND JETSAM member Troy Gregory during PRONG's 1990 "Beg to Differ" tour, is available at this location.
Formed in 1986, PRONG rose from the New York City underground "noise" scene to become one of the most accomplished and influential metal acts of the 1990s.
Focusing on the first five years of the band's career, "Prong: The Early Years" offers a rare inside look into how the band went from a thrashy DIY trio playing shows at CBGB to becoming one of the most adventurous acts in major label history. Featuring never-before-seen photos from the band's personal archives, "Prong: The Early Years" also includes exclusive, full-length interviews with PRONG founder Tommy Victor and former band members Mike Kirkland, Ted Parsons (GODFLESH, JESU) and Troy Gregory (KILLING JOKE, SWANS). Two years in the making, "Prong: The Early Years" gives the real deal on the group's primitive origins — battle scars and all — straight from the band members themselves.
Book excerpts and more information are available at Gausten's official MySpace page.
"Prong: The Early Years" is the latest title in Gausten's "music mini-book" series. Upcoming books in the series include "Swans: An Oral History" and "United As One: The Oral History of Warzone". Gausten's upcoming full-length titles include "Rock ‘N' Roll Monster: The Rik L Rik Story" (due July 2007) and "Albums that (Should've) Changed the World", slated for a fall 2007 release.
